Reporting Wrongful Termination In California

California is an “at-will” employment state, meaning employers can generally fire employees for any reason, or for no good reason at all.

However, there are very specific exceptions to this rule. Employers may not fire employees based on:

  • Race, religion, age, national origin, sexual orientation and other protected characteristics
  • Sexual harassment
  • Retaliation for “whistleblowing” or reporting unlawful acts

If your employment has been terminated for any of these reasons, the attorneys at the Law Office of David C. Winton, are here to help you explore your legal options. We provide experienced employment law representation to employees and employers throughout San Rafael, Petaluma, Novato, the San Francisco Bay area, and throughout the I-80 corridor, including Lake Tahoe.
